COVID-19 Statistics

Given the latest updates on the COVID-19 (commonly known as the Corona Virus) virus, which is increasing the number of deaths in China and Europe in particular, I have decided to work on a small project which statistically shows the number of deaths on a global level. The map below is updated on a daily basis.

I only had a couple of hours to work on the project, so bear with me on its simplicity, however I believe that it shows some very important information.

The data is taken from the John Hopkins University and is updated on a daily basis. Let’s look into a little more detail to understand the dynamics of those effected by the virus.

First of all, one important factor to take into consideration is the age of the people who have died due to the COVID-19 virus. Just by taking a look at the graph below, we can immediately identify that the largest number of fatalities starts rising in the groups of people over the age of 60, most of the people being effecting are in the 80+ range.

Apart from that, another element to take into consideration are the pre-existent conditions which led up to the patient being diagnosed with Coronavirus. Below are some of the conditions which patients had before being infected by the virus.

Hopefully through this mini-project, you readers will get a better understanding of what the whole hype is about.
